Winter school


Dear All,

It is my pleasure to present the edition of the Winter School about Fascial Anatomy, planned from 7 th to the 11th of February. The Winter School about Fascial Anatomy is a successful event that from some years is hosted at the Padova University, attracting people from all over the world. In these years, this meeting has become a dynamic forum for leaders and practitioners to share their knowledge with each other and improve their anatomical knowledges about fasciae. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus, the last edition was rescheduled creating an online event. We think that is important to maintain live the project, being the fascial research a rapidly evolving field, and we would like to propose again the in person event, followed in the next spring to a short online version edition.

We have put together a fantastic program for you! All the team of Padova (Carla Stecco, Caterina Fede, Carmelo Pirri, Lorenza Bonaldi, Lucia Petrelli) will present the most recent researches that they are doing about fascial anatomy, and we will do dissections of the most important fasciae (by Prof. Carla Stecco and Prof. Raffaele De Caro). Besides, we’ll have the contribution of many great researchers coming from other Universities as Dr. Robert Schleip and Prof. Winfried Neuhuber from Germany, Prof. Nathaly Gaudreault from Canada, and Dr. Vladimir Chereminskiy, the Director of von Hagens Plastination (Guben, Germany). All together we’ll give you a global view of the fasciae and a deep knowledge of all the anatomical aspects related to them.



Fascia is fascinating, and the more it isstudied the more extraordinary its properties appear whether in terms of its structural, biomechanical, communication, immune or other functions. It is the soft tissue component of the connective tissue system that exists throughout the human body. It forms a whole-body, three-dimensional intracellular matrix of support, continuity, and communication.

The Winter School is an official event of the University of Padova, one of the most ancient university in the world, being founded in 1222, and where the most important anatomists of the XVI, XVII, and XVIII centuries studied and taught. Actually, the Padova team is leader in the world for the anatomical researches about fasciae, here you find the most important papers published in the last years, and that will be at the basis of our lectures:

The event is focused in the fascial anatomy with a global vision and an interdisciplinary approach. We think that the anatomical knowledge is the basis that all the people, interested in fasciae, need to have to better approach the patients or to understand the clinical results.


With the Winter School you will participate to a charity project

All the speakers and researchers involved in the Winter School offer their time and their knowledge for free to support the researches about fasciae at the Padova University. Indeed all the money of the inscription fees it will totally devolved directly to the University of Padova to be used for the researches about fascial anatomy. So, we hope that this event will achieve a double goal: to give you the newest knowledges about fascial anatomy and to raise enough money to support all the new research planned for 2022!

Before you can join the Winter School, you'll first need to register for the event. You can do this from the 14th of January 2022 until the 28th of January 2022. We’ll update this website with the steps for registration.

Congress Venue

The event will take place at the Institute of Human Anatomy, University of Padova, via Gabelli, 65, 35121, Padova, headed by Prof. Raffaele De Caro. The Institute of Human Anatomy (IHA) is devoted to promoting the study of Fascia with a global vision and an interdisciplinary approach. IHA of Padua is build a platform for global collaboration on translational research and product development.

President of the event

Prof. Carla Stecco (Padua, Italy) will present an overview of the fascial anatomy and the role of fasciae in pain. She is a top expert on the subject of Fasciae. Founder Member of the Fascial Manipulation Association and of the Fascial Research Society. Member of the Italian Society of Anatomy and Histology and of the European Association of Anatomy. From many years her scientific activity devoted to the study of the anatomy of the human fasciae from a macroscopical, histological and physiopathological point of view. Author of more than 150 in papers about the fascial anatomy, and of the first Atlas about fasciae ("Functional atlas of human fasciae", 2015, Elsevier ed.). Author of two books about Fascial Manipulation (Piccin ed), translated in 11 languages.
